BCP Associates successfully hosted its first exclusive Knowledge Sharing & Networking Event to commemorate 5 years of Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) of Women at Workplace Act in India on 16th January 2019 at The Capitol, Bengaluru. The event was chaired by Mr B C Prabhakar and other experts at BCP Associates to discuss developments in the POSH landscape and milestones achieved through the 5-year journey. 100+ participants representing various industries witnessed an engaging interaction and deliberated on present-day issues relating to POSH.
Mr. B C Prabhakar’s keynote address included views on a wide range of topics covering – current challenges faced by companies in light of #metoo, implications of the Genpact case, recent POSH judgements, background checks in the area of sexual harassment and attitude and mindset of IC members. This was followed by a session showcasing the employee engagement event held at JDA Technologies in November 2018 that was designed and delivered by BCP Associates. Subsequently, a panel comprising of experienced IC members – Manjusha Nair (Head – Product Management-India Localization, SAP) and Sowmya Moni (Marketing Director, Unisys), alongside POSH subject matter experts from BCP Associates – Rashika (Advocate & POSH Consultant), Aditya Kamath (Advocate) and Harish (Head – POSH practice) deliberated on scenarios and challenges faced by IC members. They also highlighted the importance of adopting best practices like skill building for IC members. The event culminated with the curtain raiser on a thought-provoking “Awareness through Theatre’ segment that depicted how a typical POSH scenario can unfold in today’s workplaces.
Participant feedback affirmed that such knowledge sharing and networking sessions are beneficial in gaining industry perspective. A vast majority of the participants agreed that involving employees through innovative ways of engagement will help in effectively driving the message of zero tolerance to sexual harassment at the workplace.
