Andhra Pradesh is set to introduce a new IT policy reflecting the contours of its land deal with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), with a proposed amendment specifying that companies must create 500 jobs per acre to qualify for subsidised land prices. The move comes as the state government places job creation in Vishakhapatnam at the centre of its economic strategy. Speaking to CNBC-TV18 in an exclusive interview, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh said, “We need a catalyst, and we believe TCS is going to be the catalyst in our IT growth. That’s why we believe that we should give favourable terms to companies that are willing to bet on Vishakhapatnam early on.”

India’s hiring outlook for the upcoming financial year appears optimistic, with 45% of employers planning to hire for new permanent roles, according to a new report released by workforce solutions provider Genius Consultants. The Hiring, Compensation & Attrition Management Outlook Survey for 2025-26 reveals that despite economic uncertainties, businesses are showing strong intent to expand their workforces and invest in long-term talent. The report is based on insights gathered from 1,520 CXOs and senior-level executives across various industries. The findings point to a cautiously optimistic yet strategically balanced hiring landscape.

IT services major Wipro concluded FY25 with the addition of 10,000 freshers, in line with its stated annual target of hiring between 10,000 and 12,000 campus recruits. While the company aims to maintain a similar hiring target for FY26, it will closely monitor the evolving business climate before committing to final numbers. Speaking at the company’s earnings conference, chief human resources officer Saurabh Govil said Wipro would remain measured in its approach to hiring, given the ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties. “We ended the FY25 with approximately 10,000 freshers hired. And we look to continue to see that, but we will also keep a very close look at what’s happening in the environment,” he said.

IT major Wipro is set to hire around 10,000 freshers in the financial year 2025-26, with the actual number subject to demand conditions. However, the company has confirmed that entry-level salaries will remain unchanged at ₹3–4 lakh per annum — a figure that has stayed largely flat for over a decade. During the company’s post-earnings press conference on Wednesday, Saurabh Govil, Chief Human Resources Officer of Wipro, addressed the persistent stagnation in fresher compensation. “This [freshers’ salary] is a demand-supply issue. It’s not a very Wipro-centric issue. It is a market-driving and industry-driven issue,” he said, according to News18.
